The Anniversary Conference is a significant platform not only for the discussion of important scientific problems. It provides a happy opportunity to thankfully commemorate those who put their heart and soul into the creation of the Conservatory. Among them was Professor Margarit Bruthyan, on who's initiative the Cabinet of Ethnomusicology was established, of which she remained the chair and scientific director for many years. The Cabinet carried out extensive pedagogical, research and collecting activities. It also has an extensive music archive and a professional library. It was only in 1988 that the management of the Conservatory and rector Edgar Hovhannisyan has made a decision to establish an independent Department of Music Ethnography. From 1988 to 1992 M. Brutyan was the head of the Department. Since 1992, for almost twenty-seven years the management was entrusted to the author of these article. Since 2019 the Department has been headed by Nune Atanasyan.
